Postcard from The Garden Festival

Millionhands’ friend and super-pr Clare ‘Disco’ Dover is currently in Croatia, working and playing at The Garden Festival. She’s filled us in with a little festival flavour…

What’s the weather like in Croatia? Hot hot hot! And heating up further. This weekend it’s expected to be over 30 degrees – perfect weather for music by the sea. How’s the setting? The Garden Festival takes place in Petrecane, a small fishing village, tucked away on a peninsula outside of Zadar with just a sprinkling of bars and restaurants.   It’s set right on the stunning adriatic coast with beautiful views across the water. By day you can chill by the beach or have a massage by the sea while the resident DJs spin disco and house music. Then by night the pace steps up as the main stage becomes the focus before darkness sets in and people head in to Barbarellas – a retro circular nightclub on site. What’s the feel of the festival? Laid back! The festival is small – just 2500 people per weekend so it’s really easy to get chatting and meet a whole load of new people, especially on the boat parties (which are hands down the best part!) Share your highlight so far: Without doubt is has been Tensnake playing live on the main stage. First time I’ve seen him play and it was worth the wait, especially when he dropped Coma Cat to the crowd of expectant party revellers. A pure festival moment. Standout party? The Futureboogie boat party – a sail & rave spectacular. Neon Face Paints galore and some great, great tunes. What are you looking forward to? This weekend is the biggie and there’s two boat parties I don’t want to miss. First up, Resident Advisor take to the sea with Seth Troxler and Sebo K and then on Saturday Innervisions’ Dixon and Ame will set sail on the Argonaughty Boat, bobbing out on to the adriatic. Plus, back on dry land, acts like Bonobo, Metro Area and Jimpster are three on my list not to miss.
