synth love

words: eames

The good old BBC has done it again. Over the weekend I happened to catch a wonderful BBC4 documentary called Synth Britannia. The programme charted the synth’s influence on popular music over the last 4 decades and featured interviews with early synth users including; Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Kraftwerk and Vince Clark. Unmissable viewing for an electronic music enthusiast such as myself, and also a timely reminder that these machines revolutionised the way music was produced when they first arrived in the late 70’s.  Here’s a clip… and while we’re on the subject take a look at Vintage Synth, too.
